Amidst Economic Crisis, Bush Headlines Fundraiser in NJ

Share

Faced with the worst financial crisis of our time, President Bush is attending a closed-door fundraiser today in New Jersey for two Republican congressional candidates:

The event, which is closed to the media, will benefit state Sen. Leonard Lance, who is running in the 7th District, and Medford Mayor Chris Myers, who is running in the 3rd District.

While I'm sure Lance and Myers appreciate President Bush taking a break from dealing with our economic crisis to wine and dine their campaign's donors, the candidates don't seem so eager to have their picture taken with Bush.  Check out Lance's reaction:

Wonder why Lance isn't so eager for his photo-op with Bush?

Republicans have been low-key about the visit in a state where the president remains deeply unpopular.

In a Fairleigh Dickinson-Public Mind poll released earlier this month, only 22 percent of those surveyed in New Jersey approve of the job Bush is doing, while 71 percent disapprove.
