DCCC Poll Shows Kanjorski Leads Barletta by 8
DCCC Press:
The second straight Democratic Congressional
Campaign Committee poll of Pennsylvania's 11th congressional district
voters shows that Congressman Paul Kanjorski leads Lou Barletta by eight
points. The Grove Insight survey of 400 likely voters was conducted October 5-6 and has a margin of error of 4.9 percent shows Congressman Kanjorski with 47
percent of the vote to Mayor Lou Barletta's 39 percent of the vote and 13
percent undecided.
According to the poll, Congressman Kanjorski has a
higher favorability rating (at 47 percent) than Lou Barletta (at 41
percent).
According to recent accounts by the Scranton Times and the
Wilkes Barre Times Leader, Lou Barletta's campaign is running out of campaign
funds showing that his message is not only failing to resonate in the district
but that people are not backing his candidacy.
"Pennsylvania voters have recognized that Lou Barletta is
simply too extreme to represent Northeast
Pennsylvania in Congress," said Carrie James, regional press
secretary at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. "Lou Barletta's
history of supporting President Bush's failed agenda including his dangerous
scheme to privatize Social Security is turning voters off. This poll shows that
Congressman Kanjorski's tireless efforts to fight for the middle class in
Congress are resonating with voters."
