DCCC Press:

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee released a new Bennett, Petts & Normington poll today conducted October 8-9 that shows Congressman Don Cazayoux leading by 17 points in Louisiana's 6th Congressional District.  The initial head to head between all three candidates in the race -- Democrat Don Cazayoux, Republican Bill Cassidy and Independent Michael Jackson -- showed Cazayoux leading 46-29-9.  The poll surveyed 400 registered voters and has a 4.9 percent margin of error.

The poll also shows voters hold almost an equal favorable to unfavorable view of Republican challenger Bill Cassidy (23 percent favorable to 21 percent unfavorable), while voters view Congressman Cazayoux favorably by almost a 3-to-1 margin (45 percent favorable to 16 percent unfavorable).

"The people of Louisiana's 6th District obviously see Congressman Cazayoux as an independent voice working on their behalf," said Kyra Jennings, Southern Regional Press Secretary for the DCCC.  "It is also clear that Bill Cassidy's desire to privatize Social Security and his long history of shilling for Big Drug Companies is not in line with the values of Louisiana voters."
