Donna Brazile: Deception
Donna Brazile sent the following message to DCCC supporters:
Dear Friend,
This year, when it comes to voter
turnout, we Democrats have a special mission.
We Democrats want to make
sure every eligible citizen will have the chance to have their voice heard and
their vote counted.
We all agree that there is no place in our democracy
for deceptive suppression tactics. We have to make sure that the millions of new
voters who have come streaming into the political process actually show up at
the polls – and, when they do, we have to make certain that nothing gets in
their way.
Election officials are going to have their hands full dealing
with a massive influx of new voters. And we're going to have our hands full
making sure first-time voters aren't confused, harassed, or
challenged when they flood to the polls.
That's why the
Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has created the Voter Turnout
Fund, which puts special emphasis on reaching out to new voters and
protecting their rights. We currently have get-out-the-vote and voter protection
programs in 43 districts and we need to expand to 50 districts for GOTV before
Election Day. But, we can't get there without a contribution
of $20, $50, or more from our committed supporters.
Here's
the thing: you and I see dramatic rises in voter registration as a great
democratic awakening. But our opponents see it as a dangerous threat to their
power.
Make sure new voters turn out to vote – and
make sure their votes count. Give $20, $50, or more today to the DCCC Voter
Turnout Fund.
For years, we Democrats have talked about
winning by expanding the electorate. But, in 2008, we're not just talking ABOUT
IT. We're doing it – big time.
Millions of people have registered to
vote for the first time. All through the Democratic primaries, we smashed voter
turnout records. And now, as long as we make sure new voters get to the polls
and get their votes counted, we're going to make history on November 4th.
With your active support, the DCCC can make sure new voters are the
driving force in moving America forward.
Your donation of $20 or $50 can
help complete essential "get out the vote" calls to new voters, help rent more
vans to drive voters to the polls, help distribute voting rights information to
new voters, make sure there are lawyers on the ground in as many districts as
needed, and help set up sophisticated Election Day tracking systems to
immediately report voting irregularities.
Make sure new
voters turnout to vote - and make sure their votes count. Give $20, $50, or more
to the DCCC Voter Turnout Fund.
Of all the remarkable
things Barack Obama has done in 2008, nothing is more significant than this: he
has helped spark a massive and enthusiastic infusion of new voters and new
energy into American politics.
Now, it's our job to make sure that those
new voices are heard loud and clear on Election Day. Please rush
your immediate support to the DCCC Voter Turnout Fund right now.
Let's Get Out The Vote,
Donna Brazile
