Obama: “It’s Clear”
Barack Obama sent the following message to DCCC supporters:
Dear Friend,
![]() |
You and I are clear about our goal. We are out to change Washington in a deep and lasting way, charting a new course for America. That means winning the White House. But it also means building a strong foundation in Congress by electing dozens of new, change-oriented candidates nationwide.
June 30th marks the first FEC reporting deadline since I have become the presumptive Democratic nominee. It's clear that media pundits and our opponents will use Democratic fundraising totals as a measure of our party's strength this November.
Today, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) is launching its United for Change Campaign to show Democratic strength across the electoral map by the June 30th reporting deadline. House Democrats are joining us to help and will match every gift 2-to-1 today, making any gift of $50 worth $150.
Make a matched gift now of $35, $50 or more now at www.dccc.org/obama
The sole mission of the DCCC is to guide Democratic candidates for the House to victory. They were the driving force behind the powerful 2006 victories that made Nancy Pelosi the first woman Speaker of the House.
Our campaign has the potential to redraw the political map and help Democrats get elected all across the country - especially in places where Democrats have not fared well for decades. And, already this year, House Democrats have won three remarkable special election victories in historically Republican districts -- despite outside special-interest groups spending millions attacking our candidates.
Show your personal support and unity today in our first test together before the June 30th deadline. I hope you will answer our call.
Make a matched gift of $35, $50 or more now at www.dccc.org/obama
I believe we can win this election, and more importantly, I believe we can transform the electoral map and win a new majority for change, so we can finally solve the problems we have been talking about for decades.
Please stand with me and support the DCCC today. Let's add our strength, energy, and stand together United for Change.
Make a matched gift of $35, $50 or more now at www.dccc.org/obama
I look forward to the moment when I can stand, as your President, before a Congress filled with dozens of new members ready, willing and able to join us in driving change forward. Your immediate donation to the DCCC can help make that moment a reality.
Thanks for helping out with this,
Barack
P.S. Answer our call for unity and strength -- contribute now at www.dccc.org/obama.

Sorry but I vote for the brain and hart not for skin.
An ex Hillary’ camp chef works for you??????????????? You are going too too far politics game. When you started you get rid of your politician brother and sister for “technicality” and “personal” issues. You are getting worst now.
I do not feel guilty for not loving you anymore. You convinced me to stay home on Nov. Sorry but you lost my trust forever.

On to Denver!!!!
I am 44 years old, and was never much interested in politics. So, you know, when all this primary stuff started a year ago, I really didn’t have much interest in any of the candidates specifically, only “let’s get anyone else in there other than Bush”. But, I started watching the debates and reading up on all the candidates. In a perfect, ideal world, we wouldn’t be voting for a person because of their “Party” and friends, we would be voting for that individual who has a track record of crossing those very lines and trying to get the important things we all want in life: health, wealth, harmony and happiness, regardless of, gasp, party affiliation. Quite quickly, I realized Senator Clinton was head and shoulders above Obama and the others, on every issue, on judgment, character and certainly experience. She frankly blew me away with her command of the issues. I found myself picking the person that has a track record of what I am looking for. That person is Senator Clinton. She has worked hard and diligently for all Americans, and spent years (35) building strong relationships because she has a passionate vision of what America can be. She became MY candidate. “Hill-R-We”, became my mantra. __When I read that the “party leaders were tired” of the Clinton campaign bringing up the FL & MI votes for the past few weeks, I thought: well, E-X-C-U-S-E ME! I am tired of not having a say in a Presidential election, I am tired of not having my vote count, I am tired of no insurance, I am tired of little business in a struggling economy, and I am REALLY tired of some out-of-touch, well-paid, Washington fatcats deciding they know more than their constituents! The straw that broke this voter’s back was the way the DNC mishandled the FL and MI votes. That is NOT democracy, NOT the values of the Democratic Party and certainly NOT my values! The media has mounted the most biased, blatant one-sided campaign for Obama that frankly reeks of more than just voter suppression. What happened to journalistic integrity? What happened to objective reporting and let the voters decide? The misogynistic, gender bias that exists in this country is deplorable (from pundits, party leaders, the media) and if Senator Clinton gives in to the DNC and “follows the lead” they want her to take with Obama even after she is winning the popular vote, it would send a message that it is Ok to trash talk a leading woman politician, to belittle her accomplishments as if she were “just someone’s wife”, and this would send a message to every man out there to pile it on, to ignore and expect every woman to “get in line” like a good girl, for the betterment of society. Even if that very woman is the most accomplished candidate out there, or the most qualified professional for the job. What kind of message is that to send to our mothers, sisters, daughters, and sons? __This primary race has revealed a very flawed, twisted system and I for one will happily go back to my long-term Independent status soon, if Senator Clinton is not the nominee. I would love nothing more than for Hillary to run as an Independent candidate with 18+ million supporters strong. The Democratic Party is gone in my eyes. They have turned their back on the voters, on Senator Clinton, and on all that is good in this country. Manipulating the media, the voters, and the very “democratic” process itself has exposed our system as nothing better than any other country with flawed elections, tampering and propaganda. Shame on America, Shame on the Democrats. __Senator Clinton is the right choice, the ONLY choice for me in ‘08. __God Bless you Senator Clinton. You are an inspiration and a role model to all women and men who wanted to quit. Never give in, never give up. That is your message to us and my message to you. by suzanne in FL at 6/3/2008 11:11:28 PM [Login or Create Account to Reply]

I have loved coming to this site everyday to get my shot of positive energy and vibes from you adn all the other passionate Clinton supporters. This wellspring is about HOPE, belief in our candidate and rock solid commitment. Hillary will be the President of the US and with our support she will prevail!!!!!! I love you guys and her. suzanne in FL_Excellent article. I hope Hillary reads it. She needs to leave the party that betrayed & disrespected her. I hope that she does not take the vp position, they would just be using her for our votes. ( they will not get mine) I picked up the form to change to Independent today. My husband is also changing to Independent. I hope Hillary sets an example to show everyone (including her daughter) that the abuse she has received is NOT ACCEPTABLE. __Sincerely _Kathy from PA ___by KJ FROM PA at 6/4/2008 7:18:54 PM_[Login or Create Account to Reply]__
No VP_I don’t want Hillary to be VP. Democratic party leaders are only interested in the benefits Hillary can bring to the party. The DNC, Obama, and his supporters will do anything to get to the grand prize of 18 million votes. They also want to coopt Hillary’s major fundraisers. __I don’t want Hillary to be the VP. The DNC, Obama, and his supporters repeatedly trash talk about what Hillary should do or not do for the good of the party. How about having an intelligent discussion on what’s good for our country? How about having a sensitive discussion on what’s good for Hillary, her family, and her supporters? __I will continue to support Hillary any way I can but I’ll bey saying ADIOS to the Democratic Party very soon. _by EducatorforHillary at 6/4/2008 11:05:13 PM_[Login or Create Account to Reply]__
Suzanne in FL You said what was in my heart_and so eloquently and concisely too! I, too, feel Hillary is the one and only candidate for me. I don’t know the rules but I wish she could start her own party and run as an independent. My friend Dianne said it could be named the HOPE Party: HELPING OUR PEOPLE EVERYWHERE. _It is shameful what the Democrats did and the news media. I was always an independent and only signed up to vote for Hillary as did 2 of my friends in otehr states. I will change back to Unaffiliated Voter now. __Again Suzanne, you described the truth of what has happened. _Tanya in CT_by CT Tanya at 6/4/2008 12:37:58 PM_[Login or Create Account to Reply]http://www.huffingtonpost.com/joan-z-shore/hillary-and-the-unfeminin_b_101501.html#comments
This was sent to me by Cindy Sheehan. I cannot in good conscience support Democratic candidates for the House who have stood by and let our Democracy, our Republic, be destroyed, not by the president or vice president, but by the Speaker.
Worse Than Any Impeachable Offense
– by Mary Lyon
June 12, 2008
I would never have thought there’d be any greater crimes than those of George W. Bush, nor any villain greater. I’m wrong. And no, it’s not Dick Cheney, either, or anything he’s perpetrated. Nor any of their colleagues.
It’s Nancy Pelosi, and her colleagues, and what they seem quite literally hell-bent on doing.
Why at this late date do we still revile onetime British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain in public as loudly, if not more so, than we even condemn Adolf Hitler? Why, by now, has Neville Chamberlain been positioned as the ultimate “My Pet Goat” of the 20th Century? Certainly he did not instigate the Final Solution. Surely he did not whip up the murderous furor of The Third Reich. But his name is still spoken with great vilification and scorn, nonetheless.
Why?
Because he enabled. He let it all happen, with his now-tragically gullible decision to cave to Hitler when he could have taken a stand. He could have stopped one of the biggest living nightmares in human history, or at least slowed it down. Instead, he thoughtfully and cautiously stepped out of the way and invited it to rage ahead, much to all of our sorrow. He had the power to impede it, he was in a position to be able to hobble it - even if only a little. He could have made a difference, perhaps sparing millions of lives, and decades of grief. He chose not to. Oh, he knew better.
By his negligence, cowardice, short-sightedness, and lousy strategizing, Chamberlain helped Hitler along the way to Damnation, surely earning himself a place in the Fuhrer’s boat across the River Styx. Never mind the so-called Saddam or al Qaeda “appeasers” now - whose names are belched out of Republican/arch-conservative hate-radio boombox mouths as “appeasers”, as though the speakers had just been issued their orders for vigorous exercise of the new vocabulary word of the day. THAT move by Chamberlain was appeasement. That was the geniune article. That was then.
This is now.
Nancy Pelosi is the Neville Chamberlain of this day, in this country. She and her colleagues in the 110th Congress will likely be remembered by history in dramatically more disturbing ways than they had ever wanted or imagined. Some constitutional scholars have historians beat - they’ve already arrived at that conclusion. George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley has already warned that history will look very harshly on those Democrats who did nothing to hold the worst criminals ever to blight the Executive Branch accountable for anything they’ve perpetrated. Failing to follow through on the 35 Articles of Impeachment as presented by Representative Dennis Kucinich and cosponsored by colleague Robert Wexler has put a permanent mark on Pelosi’s political soul, and on her record. And she’s not just failing to follow through on even one of these impeachment resolutions, she’s actively discouraging and suppressing them all. Even worse!
George W. Bush should be impeached. Absolutely and without question. It should already have been a done deal - long ago. NO individual ever occupying the office of President of the United States has deserved it more. What he has done to defy, ignore, and utterly trash the Separation of Powers, the Rule of Law, the parameters of the Constitution, bringing ruin to our good name as Americans and reestablishing us as a rogue nation not to be trusted but rather reviled across the globe is the stuff of near legend by now. That it’s been permitted to fester like an oozing bubonic boil, unchecked and unchallenged, is a crime in and of itself. The Presidential Oath of Office declares the following “…to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States.” There’s a reason why the verb “preserve” is listed first. Because the President is supposed to ensure that the Constitution is kept, not tinkered with, followed, not flouted, and absolutely not viewed as a mere nuisance to be gotten around.
Madame Speaker, you were not hired, or promoted, to be a collaborator. But, evidently, that is something you seem grimly determined to become.
Democrats are supposed to be different. In the quagmire of lies, deceit, cheating, bullying, spin, and calculated manipulation that are hallmarks by now of the Republican Party, the Democratic Party was supposed to offer an alternative, to be the antithesis of the opposing mob. Ours was supposed to be the better, more noble, more lawful, certainly more truthful way. The way that didn’t involve trampling on the Constitution with muddy track shoes and then using whatever’s left for toilet paper. There is more flagrant and widespread obstruction of justice here than there are dirty tricks in Karl Rove’s little black book.
But no. We have to pull our punches one more time, and let the worst and most glaring perpetrators of un-Constitutional criminality get away with it all. Our valiant Dems seem to feel compelled to allow Bush and company to dance off into the sunset without so much as a slap on the wrist.
…But, but, but… we’re at war. Yes. A war that’s a lie. Well established and documented by now from Senate committee reports to inside eye-witness testimony (Scott McClellan only the most recent).
…But, but, but… we don’t have the votes. Maybe. Does this REALLY matter? Isn’t it more important to Take A Stand? Isn’t it important to stand up before all of America and all of history and put yourself on record against this epic display of abuse of power and the public’s trust by saying “NO!”? You really think, after enough of a stink is made in Congress about each of the THIRTY-FIVE Articles of Impeachment and all that they mean, enough to force extended media coverage and some long overdue enlightenment of the constituents, that you actually would not have the votes of a majority of their representatives?
…But, but, but… we might lose the election. How? By showing backbone for a change? By taking a stand? By speaking the ultimate truth to the ultimate powermongers? By doing what public opinion polls show the voters support in increasingly large majorities? See the paragraph above.
…But, but, but… it might take too long. For a vote in the House of Reps? You can do that in a day. See that same paragraph two up. It doesn’t even matter if it only goes so far as passing the House but becoming stalled in the Senate. It would pass the House and go onto the books forever. If any of this got a full hearing, out in the open, in the sunshine and fresh air that so famously disinfects, you don’t think it could be decided in a heartbeat? And aren’t crimes this heinous and this nauseatingly extensive worth taking the time to examine?
It’s no wonder, by now, that too many Americans scoff at the Democrats as the “do-nothing party” no different than the opposition. And it’s a damned shame that the first woman ever to break this high a glass ceiling, to rise to the level that Pelosi has achieved - as Speaker of the House - may be remembered most prominently in history for this, instead.
By kicking the Kucinich resolutions on impeachment to the corner again, the Democrats will earn their place in history as the party that stood by, ever so cautiously and with all their carefully-considered rationales, and let mad men run amok. In effect, the Dems will go down in history as party to those crimes. We will share the blame because we did nothing to stop it. It’s THE perfect opportunity for Democrats to step away from the muck and show the whole world how we do NOT stand with it, we do NOT think it’s okay, we do NOT condone it, we are NOT in ANY WAY its partners, and we will NOT sit back and just let it run its course - for whatever reason or excuse, especially as we seek to show voters how far apart we stand from the horrors that Republican rule has wrought. It’s still a crime, and it’s a sin. At least 35 sins, for starters. And we Democrats should absolutely not have a single fingerprint left on it. Unfortunately, Pelosi and pals seem hell-bent on making sure we do. And we are therefore self-rendered just as culpable, just as historically damned.
We as Democrats don’t need that for our party, and we as Americans absolutely do not need it for our country.
NOT ANOTHER PENNY to Dems Voting for Telecom Immunity -
Later Today -
They will ramrod Cheney’s immunity for telcos for illegally spying on ALL of us - to a vote
Steny Hoyer claims a “majority of democrats” are pressuring him to bring the vote - yet even Blue Dogs say no
The Leadership controls the floor - why are they bringing this unamerican bill to a vote ???
NO ONE BUT HOYER, BOND, & ROCKEFELLER HAVE SEEN THIS BILL -
from Wednesday, January 18, 2006:
Pelosi: ‘We Will Create the Most Open and Honest Government in History’
“Next we would end the ‘dead of night’ special interest provisions that turn bills into special-interest giveaways. Lawmakers must have the opportunity to read every bill before they vote on it. It’s common sense.”
Our group has raised almost $200,000 in 36 hours to fight this - imagine what the DCCC could do with that money
NOT ANOTHER PENNY TO CHENEY ENABLERS !
I have made $50 contribution yesterday, before this e-mail. Is this P counted toward 2 to 1 matching by congress ?
R.N.
Hoyer and Pelosi are cowards and traitors. The DCCC will not see one dime from me after this FISA capitulation. Furthermore I intend to financially support ANYONE who opposes Hoyer and Pelosi in their next elections.
Sen. Obama:
I am a suporter for Sen. Clinton. ‘Have been from the start. But, this is NOT why I send this to your blog, nor why I am here.
It is what Ms. Pelosi and the Democratic party did with the Telecom issue, and what has been done all along with the bush administration. I think that after looking at what a mess and how much you and the Democratic party as a whole have bent over and let this republicanazi administration do to the American public as well as yourselves, this party may not be one which I want to belong to. You’ve allowed the Hitler bush to spy on us, send us to a “war” which is for oil and nothing more (notice that the oil companies are feeling “safer” to get Iraqui oil now? Could it be because we have MOST of our soldiers guarding the oilfields, and not really doing anything to get BinLaden, nor put a stop to the Civil War there?)....Pelosi has put the issue of Impeachment “off the table”, and yet has given this administration EVERYTHING it wants…...now, who’s the turncoat? We all understand that the American Hitler bush is nothing more than a lame duck at this point, and his republicanazi minion are jumping ship like rats, but to have someone like Pelosi or the entire Democratic party cowtoe to the whim of the aforementioned Nazi party is something that is just beyond tolerance, and makes me want to become a independent voter, who may vote for Ralph Nader this election! I want someone with the backbone to put the Nazis in their place, and not whimp out at the first sign of being called “unpatriotic” or something like that from the republcianazi party! And moreover, do you think that I would give 1 cent of my money to those who would sell out the American public just to look good to the inbred red states? How dare you, Pelosi, and the others try to present yourselves as interested in the public, when you protect those who would have the Constitution considered as “just another piece of paper”????? At this point in time, I am almost embarrassed to say that I supported the Democratic party, as you have completely let us down, and now we see you for what you really are—-spineless, whimpering souls who are no different than those who were sympathizers for the Nazis during WWII.
I am sorry; and the jury’s out on wether or not I will support the Democrats in anything more——cowardice is not allowed, and I’ve seen too much from the Democrats to put up with it any longer.
WHat a party of traitors they are. Especially the ones that use lies to get elected and that bad mouthed Bush to get votes and then betrrayed the ones that put them in office.
All of a sudden the Bush that got them elected (by railing against him and his policies) is worthy of everything that he asks for. The Democrats are smiling back stabbing traitors as far as I am concerned. Not worthy to lead, they do their best talking when in the minority and show what traitors they are when they gain the majority position. And then they want the public to keep quiet as they show how corrupt they are.
Do you wonder how Obama could stay in that church for 20 years without having a single clue as to what that preacher was preaching? Have you wondered how a constitutional lawyer like Obama could turn his back on the rights afforded to the people by the fourth amendment to the constitution so easily and quickly? And can you here Obama reassure AIPAC that he is as ardent a warmonger against Iran as Bush is? And can you see Obama’s contradiction showing as he calls his political race against Bush one of CHANGE?
much of what is written here is true. I, too, am disappointed in many of the House’S decisions but this much, I know to be true. Abstaining is a vote for the republicans and think of the Supreme Court. More conservatives will ruin this country and what it stands for forever. Give Obama a chance. He’s all we have and Hillary supports him too. So if you respect Hillary, listen to what she says.
I am sick of people second-guessing Obama because Hilary lost. It is not the case that he was/is undesirable. Obama is a man of character and a man who can say “maybe that wasn’t the right thing to do”. Hillary lost the voting because Obama was a better candidate in the eyes of the democrats.
Grow up! Spend some time finding out about Barak before you decide we should vote for You Know Who (McCain-in-the-butt).
If you didn’t follow the voting and didn’t care enough to know who the candidates stood for, it is hard to get on board. We need every Democrat. If Barak hadn’t made it I would have voted for Hillary. And it would have been difficult. But the issues are important and we must prevail.
Rebecca
I walked in to the voting booth not having decided on Hilary or Barak because each one possesses good qualities for the presidency. I have no problem enthusiastically supporting the party’s choice of Barak Obama.
Given Hilary Clinton’s work on health care, I believe she would be a stellar choice for the cabinet post of Health Secretary. Or Secretary of State. At either position or as Senator from New York she could contribute more than as Vice President.
I really had not expected to see so many apparent fans of Rush Limbaugh signing on to attempt to outdo his violent opinions. The opening entry in this forum is straight out of Limbaugh’s directions for “Operation Chaos,” and reflects views that, if we took the writer seriously, disgrace that writer completely. Among the others, the idea that voting for McCain is in any way a political response to Senator Clinton’s loss misses the entire point of her campaign as well as Obama’s. Obama won because he ran a better campaign, and did reflect a degree of forthrightness about all the principal issues, particularly race, that is more hopeful than anything we have seen in decades. When he has argued that he intends to pursue politics on a different basis, it has never included the folly that the opposition would love to encourage, of not being political at all. In order to change the culture, the society, the government, it is still necessary to get elected. The Ditto Heads on this forum do give themselves away: they are not disgruntled supporters of Senator Clinton. They are just disgruntled Republicans.
