Pelosi Statement on DNC Plan to Seat Florida & Michigan Delegations at Convention
Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who will chair the Democratic National Convention in Denver in August, issued the following statement tonight after the Rules and Bylaws Committee agreed on a compromise plan to seat Florida and Michigan delegates at the convention."I am pleased that the Florida and Michigan delegations will be seated at the convention in Denver and I congratulate the Rules and Bylaws Committee for its good work.
"I look forward to an historic convention focused on defeating John McCain in November and putting a Democrat in the White House."

With regard to your opposition to drill for oil off the coasts of Florida: please offer a workable alternative, such as a plan to provide solar energy , at a reasonable
cost to the “ middle class” homeowners.
I am frankly appalled that the Rules and Bylaws Committee awarded Michigan delegates to Senator Barack Obama. Through his own choice, Senator Obama was not on the MI primary slate and is not entitled to any delegates. This latest in a string of outrages from the DNC is why I will not vote for any candidate of the Democratic party this year. Your actions are anything BUT democratic and you show you have no regard to the voting process.
Why has the Democratic Committee chosen to seat delegates to Obama that he did not obtain from MI, as Hillary technically won the phantom MI primary? This is not democracy, this is politicians deciding what they think is best for them, not considering what the people of MI want. Not only am I disgusted, but also the Democratic Party is in for a rude awakening in a year where we should win the presidency by a landslide following the disastrous Bush years. Show me the substance with Obama...Hillary has it he doesn’t.
I have voted in every presidential election since Jimmy Carter. I have never NOT voted for a democrat. For the first time in my life I will not Vote in this coming presidential election. I also will no longer contribute to any democratic candidate who supports Barack Obama.
This is no longer the party I belonged to. I was willing to listen to Barack Obama until this morning when I heard Howard Dean try and silence Geraldine Ferraro again. When I listened to him I heard him say that she was racist and irrelevant. Funny why doesn’t he say that about all of the sexism slug at Hillary Clinton?
Further, the people that surround Mr. Obama are exactly the people I detest...sexist, people who seek to divide and conquer. It is a sad day in America.
I am a registered independent democrat. I am planning to vote for Hillary Clinton for president. Not only have the democratic party politics destroyed those Mich. uncommitted voters but now they have destroyed their chances of winning the presidency. It is not my one vote that threatens your future, it is those people I hear talking everywhere I go. How disgusted and disgraced the democrat’s have become. It took a Fla. republican committee, who pushed up the democratic primary vote to, spearhead and split the democratic party in two. But what’s really amazing is how consistently the party leaders keep falling in line with that tactic. I now realize the republican’s have been in control all along. Feeding Obama victories to the democrat leaders who have been taking the bait hook, line and sinker. Now all one need to do is watch the FOX network beginning their destruction campaign of the democrat’s hand picked choice. I use to switch channels whenever I passed by FOX. Now I see them starting to broadcast wheat American’s have been thinking and fearing about Obama and it is taking hold. McCain is a shoo-in against Obama. Deny it and you’re doomed to stay the loosing party. IS THERE ANYONE THERE CAPABLE OF SAVING THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY???? Those stuperdelegates(sic) perhaps?
One more thing. It doesn’t make a difference what Hillary or Bill or Obama or Pelosi or Dean or any democrat says. People I talk to, and I, are not voting for Obama it just aint gonna happen.
His primary votes were mostly republican hopefuls and inner city blacks. Come November only his black vote will still be there. All of Hillary’s and those republican votes that helped him eliminate her will not be there.
Dean, Pelosi, Barrack and the other party hopefuls may not have lost their minds, but they certainly have lost everyone else’s by not understanding the true democrat’s mindset. Yeah!!! Yahhh!!! Whopeee!!! However Dean is back and thi time he’s winning. Yeeha YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Speaker Pelosi, That which pleases you is a great disservice to the American public. How can the allotment of unearned delegates to a candidate who chose not to run in Michigan please you? Is this your trial balloon? Your way of declaring whom you will support come November? Why don’t you reveal your choice for nomination now--just as the rest of the spineless Johnnies-come-lately who are declaring their support for someone whom they felt was not electable early on in the campaign. Understand that I will no longer vote come November, or any other election, if a candidate is nominated irrespective of his/her ability to gain the majority of the popular vote. Why should I, it doesn’t seem to matter; you have your rules and ways of interpreting them, all I have is the Constitution. Hmmm, but then again, “It” truly doesn’t state that I have a right to vote, does it?
I am truly upset that you are rewarding Hillary Clinton for breaking the rules which she agreed to when both Michigan and Florida wanted to vote early. They were told at that time that if they held the primaries early they would not be seated and they did it anyway. But what really gets my goat is that both candidates were told not to put their names on the ballot and not to campaigning in these states. Hillary did just that and is now being rewarded for breaking the rules. I am truly disappointed in the DNC for the decision they have made and will probably not vote Democratic for the first time.
Thanks for showing the world that if you break the rules you will be rewarded.
Shame on you.

The Democrats cannot unite---there will be no “unity”. To tell the “white”, “woman” to get lost when she has AS MUCH or MORE votes than the other candidate is overwhelmingly sexist. The superdelegates can if they like give their support to Obama and it will end this contest, but at least 17 million Americans will think twice about voting for Obama because he is young, inexperienced, his associations for the last 20 years with people that hate “whites” (I know he didn’t hear anything during all those years in his church), his associations with corrupt people (Rezko for 17 years), I know he didn’t know he was a crook----and the list just keeps getting bigger and bigger. How can anyone support a man that is a weasel, uses people, can never be held accountable, flip-flops on the issues and continually tells people you didn’t understand what I said “sweetie”. I am not a racist person and actually wanted to see a black man become President, but NEVER this man. Barrack Hussein Obama, it is more than your name, its your character and no matter how slick and charismatic your speeches are you will not be able to sell it to hard working Americans...so if the superdelegates such no “guts” and select you then the Democratic Party will lose an election and much more---Obama will divide this nation!
The Democratic Party has demonstrated that it is not the party of the people through this primary process. The “elite” of the party have looked for anyone to take Hillary Clinton’s place and they found it in a racist, anti semite who for 20 years never listened to what his pastor said, disowns at least half his heritage by disparaging his grandmother as racist (someone who’s daughter married a black man and then a muslim and who basically raised him). He has no resume of accomplishments either in Illinois or the Senate,( which he won by default due to his opponent’s messy divorce forcing him out of the race at the last minute). Nobody in Michigan voted for him. He did not win any delegates, but the party gave him the uncommitted to stick it to Hillary Clinton. The caucuses are a joke. Everyone who has the time or is paid to attend gets in a room and browbeats the gathering into voting for their candidate, no absentee ballots are available for people who cannot attend for a myriad of reasons including being on active duty in the military. Caucuses should not be allowed and winning should be take all, not apportioned where the loser (Obama) can get the nomination.
I and everyone I’ve talked to has decided not to vote for Obama if he is the nominee but to vote for McCain or not vote at all. Obama will be a disaster for the Country just as Bush is.
I have been a democrat my entire life and I am so disgusted by the party I am registering as a independent and will not vote for a democrat this fall, not that the party seems to care what the “little people” think if we had bigger purse strings maybe you would listen or care. You can blame this on Hillary Clinton for staying in the race but it is not her fault it is the system that you created to get what you want not what the people want. You have spilt our nation, no matter how much you push Obama or the democratic need to win in the fall you cannot take back the damage that has been done.
For the first time in my life I will not vote Dem. I am 65 yrs. I have worked for the U.A,W. Retires drop in center for yrs and the get out to vote phone bank. You butt heads don’t
