Last week, Rush Limbaugh gave us
a preview of the outrageous Republican attacks that are on the way against
President Obama and every Democrat working for change. Rush actually
said that he 'hopes' President Obama fails to meet America's
challenges.
Listen to Rush in his own words, saying "I hope
he fails."
Limbaugh's cheap shot at President Obama might
be the first by the Republican attack machine this year but we know that it
won't be the last.
We need every grassroots Democrat to show Rush
Limbaugh and all of the Republicans what they're up against if they start
attacking President Obama and Democrats who are working to end the failed GOP
policies of the last eight years.

I think the best course of action is just to ignore him. He thrives on the controversy and the more attention he gets the better for him. He’s a jerk, no denying, and in most cases I do believe in a strong reaction, but with Rush, just ignore the blowhard. The people that listen to him are going to listen to him no matter what and all these letters from us are just going to add to his ratings, perhaps even pick him up some new listeners. In this particular case a dead silence would be the most damaging action to take. It will make him realize just how irrelevant he truly is.

The after affects of drug abuse. I feel sorry for the guy: half is brain is fried and the other half is atrophied.
All loyal Americans hope for the success of important efforts by our government, both domestic and military, during any administration. We hoped for success in Iraq and in Afghanistan. We hoped any economic stimulus plan would help our economy. We hoped prescription drug coverage would help those using Medicare. We may not have agreed that every approach used by a president was the best one that could be used, but we hoped for good outcomes for our nation and our fellow Americans. Rush Limbaugh is just a demagogue, spouting extreme statements so as to appeal to the reactionary, selfish, bigoted instincts of those who prefer to come from their worst instincts. He thrives on the ignorance and malevolence in his listeners. He is not a loyal American.
Ignore him. Let him sink into the fringe, then into obscurity. I really am disappointed the DCCC would waste their time and ours adding fuel to RL’s fire.

It’s somewhat discouraging to me that a fellow Democrat would think that in order to discredit a smear merchant like Limbaugh, we would have to resort to similar tactics. Doctoring his message plays right into the Republicans’ hands.
Dear Brian and Company: This post is for you, even if you choose not to post it on the blog. I am ever surprised at you people. Why are you bothering to invest one milliwatt of physical/emotional/mental energy into rebutting what that junkie slob says anymore? They LOST. They lost big. What he says or doesn’t say shouldn’t affect a single thinking person. If you were driving down the street and a dog ran alongside the car and barked, would you be outraged, stop the car, and start mounting a neighborhood campaign against the dog? If you were in a market and a retarded person smirked at your shoes (after smirking at everything else), would you get outraged and demand a statement from the store management demanding that said retard take back his smirk and apologize? Limbaugh is a showman who appeals to a tiny fringe element of the conservative wing of the Republican party. If he gets to you and you feel it necessary to respond to his rhetoric, he has won and sells your vitriol to his pathetic audience. He’s a troll, ignore him.
How many times have Democrats obstructed President Bush’s attempt to fix Social Security, and opposed (and are now dismantling) his policies that kept us safe from terror attacks? How many times have liberals wished for more troop and civilian casualties in Iraq so they could boast about our losing the war? How many times have they called for President Bush’s imprisonment and/or death?
And now because Rush Limbaugh told the truth; that he hoped Obama fails because success means America fails, Democrats are not only up in arms, but have their hands out as well.

Obama gives a good example of how to counter people like Limbaugh: go strongly ahead directed by your values, articulating them as you act, and not wasting time/energy/breath on those who rant rave and spew venom. We can change the social climate by being an example of better dialog, and perhaps getting through to the media that we want better fare than RL.

I would like to say that we have political parties for a reason. We drastically disagree when it comes to economic and social policies. In fact the difference is often so great that only one party can be right. Why should Republicans hope for the success of Obama’s policies if they know that they have no chance of success in helping this country? You may disagree, but Democrats did the same exact thing to George Bush from the very first day he was inaugurated. Have not Democrats claimed for the last 8 years that dissent was the greatest expression of patriotism.

The DCCC wants Obama to fail too, which is why the stimulus proposal contains massive amounts of non-stimulus spending. The pork could easily be slipped into legislation down the road, but the DCCC is using the “urgency” of the stimulus to lard up their districts with goodies before anyone notices.

Why are you not presenting the context of what Limbaugh said? Limbaugh clearly couched his failure comment in terms of whether or not Obama puts for policy that calls for governmental control of large sections of the private sector.
