Survey: Why Are People Fed Up with Republicans?
Feeling a little down this post-Easter Tuesday? This might help:...Republicans themselves -- have a good idea what kind of disadvantages the GOP carries into Election Day. One is the extraordinary number of Republicans leaving Congress this year, opening up new opportunities for Democrats to increase their majority. While the number of retirements and resignations are certainly not rare -- 39 so far -- the disproportionate number from one party is. As of this month, 29 of those soon-to-be open seats are Republican. After seven years of ignoring the will of the people, it looks like Congressional Republicans have finally wised up that voters are tired of Republican rule:
Many blame GOP hubris, corruption scandals, President Bush's low approval ratings, the unpopular war in Iraq and natural election cycles for the party's fall in Congress. Whether the national mood has shifted enough -- and the party has redeemed itself enough -- to reverse 2006, seems unlikely, say analysts, and that has partly spurred retirements. Why do you think people are fed up with Republicans? Don’t know the answer to that. I do know that most Democrats, such as myself, don’t think much of what comes out of our party - certainly not DCCC messages from people like Madeleine Albright (responsible for starving millions of Iraqi children during the embargo years and bombing civilians in Serbia), nor do we think much of messages from Harry “give ‘em hell Harry” Reid, who tries to portray himself as a fiery populist and then caves in at the first sign of terror-baiting by the White House over immunity for telcos who blatantly violated the civil rights of Americans, OR Nancy “impeachment is off the table” Pelosi.
Democrats.com is one of the few Democratic groups that’s really speaking to the heart and soul of the party. But I would go further—let’s see a Democratic platform that vows to prosecute every last service man and woman who served at Guantanamo Bay for their part in a terror conspiracy. Bank robbery get-away car drivers can be convicted for conspiracy to murder if a teller is shot while they are sitting in a vehicle idling in front of a bank; by the same legal principle, a cafeteria worker at Gitmo who can be shown to be aware that they were serving food to torturers should prosecuted as enablers of war crimes. Unless and until everyone involved is brought to justice, and the victims (Arar, Higazy, Al-Masri and hundreds of others) are apologised to and compensated, electing a Democrat will do nothing more for America’s tarnished image than making Cheney our next President. The Democratic Party leadership so far has totally failed to recognize this.
The idea that “OPERATION CHAOS” will sway election results in close races is repulsive. Rush Limbaugh has already given Clinton more delegates than she’d have otherwise. That Limbaugh can control the election to the point of nominating our weakest candidate ain’t sittin’ too well out here…know what I mean?
Politics,24/7,all the time with no governing for the people.
Their are approx. 300 million citizens in the U.S. & the Republicans only take care of the top 30 million.
THE REASON? THATS WHERE THE MONEY & POWER IS.
