Which Republican ‘Young Gun’ Candidate Will Be the First Abandoned?
Yesterday’s release of campaign finance reports for the second quarter of 2010 made clear that Republicans are going to have to begin abandoning 'Young Gun' candidates who are unable to build the necessary support. The reports reaffirmed that many Democratic Congressmen have strong bases of support and are in incredibly strong financial positions to win re-election despite bluster and claims from Republicans and across the nation. Republican candidates seriously and significantly lag their opponents in each race at the critical point where campaigns begin communicating to voters.
"Republicans talk a big game about the strength of their candidates but these finance reports show a surge in support for Democrats who are standing up for the middle class," said Ryan Rudominer, National Press Secretary at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. "With all the bluster and all the promises Republicans have made, they’re now faced with some tough decisions about which of these candidates can’t cut it and have to be dropped. Who will be the first one they abandon to the sidelines?"
