Daines Silence On Akin Deafening

Montana Congressional candidate Steve Daines is supported by one of the only groups who continues to stand behind Missouri Senate candidate Todd Akin.  After Akin's offensive comments about pregnancy and rape, Democrats and Republicans alike have criticized Akin and he's lost the support of Republican groups like the NRSC and Karl Rove's American Crossroads.  However Susan B. Anthony List, which has endorsed Daines, has doubled down on their support for Akin.  After Steve Daines couldn't even be bothered to comment to the Associated Press on Akin and his campaign noted he agrees with Akin's opposition to abortion in cases of rape, Daines should denounce this group for supporting Akin.

"It's disturbing that not only is Steve Daines silent about Todd Akin's offensive comments, but Daines is still accepting support from groups that are standing with Akin," said Stephen Carter of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. "After Democrats and Republicans alike condemned Todd Akin, Steve Daines says nothing. The fact that Daines continues to accept the support of a group that stands with Akin is proof that he’s too out of touch for Montana."
