DCCC Chairman Steve Israel and Top-Tier Candidates Serve Tea Party Republicans with Pink Slips

With 46 days left until Election Day and as House Republicans prepare to hightail out of Washington today for a nearly two-month taxpayer funded vacation, DCCC Chairman Steve Israel and about a dozen top-tier Red to Blue candidates today gave a Pink Slip Notice of Termination to this Tea Party Republican Majority – for cause.

After nearly two years of failing to get the job done, Chairman Israel and top-tier Democratic candidates handed out pink slips to fire this Tea Party Congress. Republicans have earned a notice of termination for: voting to end Medicare; protecting tax breaks for millionaires instead of tax cuts for the middle class and Medicare for seniors; siding with corporations that ship American jobs overseas; failing to pass a comprehensive jobs bill, Farm bill, reauthorize VAWA or stop the middle class tax increases; and waging an extreme assault on women’s health care that denies access and choice.

“For nearly two years this Tea Party Republican Congress has failed to get the job done and now it’s clear the Tea Party experiment has failed,” said DCCC Chairman Steve Israel. “We’re handing out pink slips, a notice of termination for the Tea Party Republican Majority because it’s time for them to go. At every turn this Tea Party Congress has protected millionaires and special interests at the expense of the middle class and seniors. The American people have buyer’s remorse and are ready to fire these Tea Party Republicans and hire outstanding Democratic candidates, problem solvers, who are ready to work to create jobs, protect Medicare, strengthen the middle class and stand up for women’s health care.”

Democratic candidates are taking the fight to their Republican opponents and will continue to stay on offense with Congresswoman Allyson Schwartz, National Chair for Recruitment and Candidate Services, Jared Polis and Donna Edwards, co-chairs of the Red to Blue program, helping them build winning campaigns.
