DCCC Chairman Steve Israel Statement on President Obama’s Signing of the Violence Against Women Act

DCCC Chairman Steve Israel released the following statement today on President Obama’s signing of the Violence Against Women Act:

“President Obama’s signing of the Violence Against Women Act today is a victory for women across the country – ensuring that our communities have the resources they need to prevent and prosecute abuse.

“The American people know that two-thirds of Tea Party House Republicans voted against this vital protection for all women and shamefully fought it for more than 500 days. Today’s triumph for women is possible because House Democrats stood up and ensured that the Violence Against Women Act became law, despite House Republicans’ best efforts to block it.”
