DCCC Chairman Steve Israel Statement on U.S. Supreme Court Ruling Upholding Citizens United

DCCC Chairman Steve Israel released the following statement today on the U.S. Supreme Court ruling to uphold the Citizens United decision:

“I’ve long said that Republicans didn’t beat Democrats in 2010, Karl Rove and Koch brothers did after the Citizens United decision.

“The U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling today will encourage Republican donors to do more, that’s why it’s critical that Democratic allies and donors should not allow Karl Rove and the Koch brothers to win this cycle. As we saw in the Arizona Special Election, Democratic groups won’t outspend Republican groups, but when they keep us in the fight we can win.

“The election is about who you are for—big corporations, Big Oil, and millionaires or the middle class. It is critical that President Obama and congressional Democrats win in November or our democracy may permanently be outsourced to Karl Rove and Koch brothers.”
