DCCC Chairman Steve Israel’s Statement on Ohio Issue 2 Ballot Initiative

DCCC Chairman Steve Israel released the following statement about voters defeating Ohio’s Issue 2 ballot initiative.

“This is a triumph for working families in Ohio and across the country. Hardworking working men and women built this country and are key to re-igniting the American dream -- today is a victory for them.
 
“Teachers, police officers, firefighters, public employees and working families all across Ohio stood together against Ohio Republicans’ ideological attacks on their right to bargain. We need to make smart decisions about how to reduce the debt, but Ohio voters wouldn’t allow Republicans to balance the budget on the backs of the middle class.
 
“Tonight’s victory in Ohio is the latest evidence that the American people will hold Republicans accountable for protecting billionaires at the expense of middle class.”
