DCCC Chairman Steve Israel’s Statement on Republicans’ 31st Vote to Repeal Health Care Reform

DCCC Chairman Steve Israel released the following statement after House Republicans voted to repeal the Affordable Care Act today, marking their 31st effort since January 2011:

“House Republicans began their Majority by voting to end Medicare for seniors, and they will end their Majority by voting once again to repeal critical patient protections for the middle class. The Republican record is clear and consistent: millionaires over Medicare, and insurance company profits over middle class patients.

“This is the 31st time they have voted to protect insurance company profits instead of middle class families and for as long as they control the Majority they will keep on trying.

“Instead of moving forward and voting on comprehensive plans to create jobs for the middle class, House Republicans continue moving backwards with political stunts that eliminate patient protections and undermine the middle class. After 31 failed attempts, it's time to move forward.”
