DCCC Distributes Grimm “Wanted” Flyers to Congressman Grimm and Capitol Hill Staff
With new questions raised about the extent of ongoing federal investigations into Congressman Michael Grimm (NY-11), the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee hand-delivered a “Wanted” flyer to Congressman Grimm, and distributed the flyers to morning commuters near Grimm’s Cannon House Office Building and National Republican Congressional Committee headquarters on Wednesday morning. The flyers are an effort to raise awareness among Congressman Grimm’s colleagues and their staffs about the questions surrounding the embattled Congressman who now faces an FBI investigation and, just reported last week, a grand jury investigation.
"With Fox News reporting that there is a federal investigation into both Congressman Grimm’s campaign and non-campaign activities, it’s important for lawmakers and their staffs to know who their neighbor is,” said Josh Schwerin, Northeast Press Secretary at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. “It’s well known that Congressman Grimm may have extorted $500,000 from a rabbi’s congregation and he’s facing FBI and grand jury investigations, but now there are brand new unanswered questions about non-campaign related investigations. Since Congressman Grimm won’t say, hopefully one of his colleagues will."

FBI Investigating Grimm’s Fundraising, Questioning Campaign Staff. “The FBI has questioned at least four people who worked on Congressman Michael Grimm’s 2010 campaign as part of its ongoing probe into allegations the Tea Party favorite took illegal election donations. […] The four, either campaign operatives and volunteers, were questioned in the past two weeks. In one case, the interview was conducted by a federal tag team that included an Assistant U.S. Attorney, sources told the Daily News. The FBI opened an inquiry into the Republican’s fund-raising after members of Rabbi Yoshiyahu Yosef Pinto’s New York congregation complained he was strong-arming them for donations, as the New York Times reported in January.” [NY Daily News, 6/20/12]
Feds Also Investigating Non-Campaign Issues. “Another law enforcement source, without elaborating, told FoxNews.com that Grimm also was under investigation for issues not related to campaign finance, and former FBI agents have been interviewed.” [FoxNews.com, 7/19/12]
