DCCC ‘Drive to 25’ Campaign: Holding Republicans Accountable for Trying to Cut Seniors’ Benefits
The DCCC will announce this morning the latest phase of its “Drive to 25” paid advertising and grassroots campaign. Republican Budget Chairman Paul Ryan said that he intends to target Social Security and Medicare in House Republicans’ forthcoming budget. The DCCC’s advertising campaign will hold 10 House Republicans accountable for supporting Ryan’s radical scheme to privatize Social Security and dismantle Medicare as we know it.
“Everyone agrees we need to cut spending, but House Republicans are making the wrong choices by forcing seniors to shoulder the burden while not asking Big Oil companies making record profits to sacrifice even the smallest amount,” said Jennifer Crider of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. “The DCCC will go district-by-district to stop House Republicans’ plans to cut seniors’ hard earned benefits in the middle of a recession just so Big Oil companies can keep their taxpayer subsidies.”
Additionally, the DCCC is launching a new action center, www.StopBenefitCuts.com, to highlight that Social Security belongs to the people who worked their whole life to pay into the system, but House Republicans want to use Social Security and Medicare as a piggy bank for the government. At www.stopbenefitcuts.com people can send letters to their Members of Congress and print out a pledge for their Member to sign.
