DCCC Names Congressman David Rivera as “Corrupt Republican of the Month” for May
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) today named Congressman David Rivera (FL-26) as the "Corrupt Republican of the Month" for his ongoing FBI and IRS investigations of possible tax evasion and his ongoing financial scandals. While House Republicans had pledged a "zero-tolerance" policy on ethics, the National Republican Campaign Committee (NRCC) is embracing Rivera despite these ongoing investigations. Rivera will be featured on Republican HouseOfScandal.org all month long.
Last week, the Florida State Attorney's Office found Rivera engaged in questionable financial practices and investigators found Rivera double dipped Florida taxpayers for $30,000, showed Rivera lied multiple times and identified "potential ethical violations" related to a secret contract to expand gambling in Miami-Dade County.
"Congressman David Rivera is the poster boy of the Republican's House of Scandal – facing FBI and IRS investigations for tax evasion and ongoing scandals," said Jesse Ferguson of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. “From the ongoing FBI and IRS probes for tax evasion, whichever way you look there’s more corruption and scandal in Congressman David Rivera's wake. Making matters worse, House Republican leaders are now openly embracing Congressman Rivera, breaking their 'zero-tolerance' pledge on ethics."
A House Republican is named “Corrupt Republican of the Month” on HouseOfScandal.org for their ethics scandals or corruption. HouseofScandal.org currently features other Florida House Republicans including NRCC Finance Chairman Vern Buchanan and Cliff Stearns along with others Republicans across the nation.
