DCCC’s ‘Drive to 25’ Campaign to Hold 50 Republicans Accountable for Failed Budget Priorities

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) today launched the next phase of its paid advertising and grassroots campaign to hold vulnerable House Republicans accountable for backing partisan plans that make the wrong budget choices. The DCCC will hold 50 House Republicans accountable for choosing dangerous cuts that will cost jobs and hurt the middle class while still preserving taxpayer subsidies for Big Oil companies making record profits. The DCCC will be running automated phone calls, web ads, live phone calls, and e-mails in targeted districts throughout the week.

"We have to cut spending and reduce the deficit, but House Republicans are making the wrong choices by asking middle class families to shoulder all of the sacrifice while not asking Big Oil companies making record profits to sacrifice anything," said Jesse Ferguson of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. "The DCCC will continue going district-by-district to hold House Republicans accountable for forcing homeless veterans to sleep in the streets, taking teachers out the classrooms, scientists out of the labs, and underfunding police programs just so Big Oil companies can keep their taxpayer subsidies."

Text of the automated phone call running against Representative Vern Buchanan (FL-13) and Lou Barletta (PA-11), and Blake Farenthold (TX-27) follows:

Everyone knows we need to cut spending and reduce the deficit in Washington. And we can do that by reforming government, cutting wasteful spending, and getting rid of taxpayer subsidies for the Big Oil companies that are making record profits.

Instead, Representative Vern Buchanan voted for a partisan plan to cut transportation and infrastructure costing more than 86,000 jobs and making our roads and bridges less safe. With unemployment at 9%, it just doesn’t make sense to cut investments in transportation and infrastructure that create jobs.

Call Vern Buchanan at (XXX) XXX-XXX and tell him to cut taxpayer subsidies for Big Oil , not transportation investments, safe roads and bridges that create Florida jobs.

Text of the automated phone call running against Representative John Mica (FL-07), Renee Ellmers (NC-02), Pat Tiberi (OH-12), Jim Gerlach (PA-06), Mike Fitzpatrick (PA-08), Charlie Dent (PA-15), and Dave Reichert (WA-08) follows:

Everyone knows we need to cut spending and reduce the deficit in Washington. And we can do that by reforming government, cutting wasteful spending, and getting rid of taxpayer subsidies for the Big Oil companies that are making record profits.

Instead, Representative John Mica voted for a partisan plan that will mean 20,000 fewer science researchers in labs and huge cuts in disease research. This makes it harder to compete with India and China and sets back life saving research into cancer and other diseases. His priorities don’t make any sense.

Call John Mica at (XXX) XXX-XXX and tell him to cut taxpayer subsides to Big Oil, not life-saving science and research to keep America ahead.

Text of the automated phone call running against Frank Wolf (VA-10) follows:

Everyone knows we need to cut spending and reduce the deficit in Washington. And we can do that by reforming government, cutting wasteful spending, and getting rid of taxpayer subsidies for the Big Oil companies making record profits.

But did you hear what Representative Frank Wolf and Speaker John Boehner did? They pushed a partisan budget plan that will cost Northern Virginia jobs – especially those of federal workers. 800,000 total jobs would be lost because of the Boehner-Wolf budget.

And what was Speaker John Boehner’s response to thousands of federal workers who would get laid off? So Be It.

And Frank Wolf stood right by his side.

Call Frank Wolf at (XXX) XXX-XXX and tell him to stand up for this district, not partisan plans that will cost federal workers their jobs.

Text of the automated phone call running against Representative Scott Tipton (CO-03), Cory Gardner (CO-04), Bobby Schilling (IL-17), Chris Gibson (NY-20), Richard Hanna (NY-24), Paul Ryan (WI-01), Sean Duffy (WI-07), Reid Ribble (WI-08), Jamie Herrera Beutler (WA-03) follows:

Everyone knows we need to cut spending and reduce the deficit in Washington. And we can do that by reforming government, cutting wasteful spending, and getting rid of taxpayer subsidies for the Big Oil companies making record profits.

But instead, Representative Tim Griffin voted for a partisan plan to raid $694 million from public education.

Yep, Tim Griffin voted to cut 10,000 teachers from the classroom and over 200,000 kids from early childhood education to pay for subsidies to Big Oil.  His priorities don’t make any sense.

That means nearly 2,500 schools could lose their funding.

Call Tim Griffin at (XXX) XXX-XXX to tell him to cut taxpayer subsidies to Big Oil, not teachers out of the classroom.

Text of the automated phone call running against Representative Dean Heller (NV-02) and David McKinley (WV-01) follows:

Everyone knows we need to cut spending and reduce the deficit in Washington. And we can do that by reforming government, cutting wasteful spending, and getting rid of taxpayer subsidies for the Big Oil companies making record profits.

Instead, Representative Dean Heller voted for a partisan  plan  that hurts the safety and security of our miners, ending funding to protect them from hazardous and life threatening conditions at work.

Dean Heller decided to cut protections for miners to fund subsidies for big oil companies making billions in profits.   Why would he do that?  Heller’s priorities just don’t make any sense.

Call Dean Heller at (XXX) XXX-XXX to tell him to cut taxpayer subsidies for Big Oil subsidies, not the safety of our nation’s miners.

Text of the automated phone call running against Representative Dan Benishek (MI-01) and Mike Kelly (PA-03) follows:

Everyone knows we need to cut spending and reduce the deficit in Washington. And we can do that by reforming government, cutting wasteful spending, and getting rid of taxpayer subsidies for the Big Oil companies making record profits.

But instead, Representative Dan Benishek voted for a partisan plan  to put the Great Lakes at risk. Benishek voted to cut $250 million that’s needed to clean up the Great Lakes and preserve their economic benefits for Michigan.

If Dan Benishek has his way, we’ll see more pollution in the Lakes, job loss, closed beaches, and economic distress for countless small businesses in our region.

Call Representative Benishek at (XXX) XXX-XXX and tell him to cut taxpayer subsidies for Big Oil not protections for our Great Lakes.

Text of the automated phone call running against Representative Paul Gosar (AZ-01), Daniel Webster (FL-08), David Rivera (FL-25), Mike Rogers (MI-08), Michael Grimm (NY-13),  Pat Meehan (PA-07). Tom Marino (PA-10) follows:

Everyone knows we need to cut spending and reduce the deficit in Washington. And we can do that by reforming government, cutting wasteful spending, and getting rid of taxpayer subsidies for the Big Oil companies making record profits.

But instead, Representative Paul Gosar voted for a partisan plan to cut funding for local police by 26 percent.

If Paul Gosar has his way, more cops will be out of a job and our streets will be less safe - threatening our communities.

Call Representative Paul Gosar at (XXX) XXX-XXX and tell him to cut taxpayer subsidies for Big Oil, not the cops that keep our streets safe.

Text of the automated phone call running against Representative Bill Young (FL-10), Allen West (FL-22), Adam Kinzinger (IL-11), Tim Walberg (MI-07), Steve Chabot (OH-01), Jim Renacci (OH-16) and Scott Rigell (VA-02) follows:

Everyone knows we need to cut spending and reduce the deficit in Washington. And we can do that by reforming government, cutting wasteful spending, and getting rid of taxpayer subsidies for the Big Oil companies making record profits.

Instead, Representative Bill Young voted for a partisan plan to eliminate vital housing assistance for homeless veterans. On the battlefield, our troops leave no soldier behind, but Representative Bill Young is willing to leave our veterans behind here at home by eliminating millions for Homeless veterans to find housing.  This doesn’t make any sense.

Call Representative Bill Young at (XXX) XXX-XXX and tell him to cut taxpayer subsidies for Big Oil companies, not walk away from our veterans.

Text of the automated phone call running against Representative Quico Canseco (TX-23) follows:

Everyone knows we need to cut spending and reduce the deficit in Washington. And we can do that by reforming government, cutting wasteful spending, and getting rid of taxpayer subsidies for the Big Oil companies making record profits.

Instead, Representative Quico Canseco chose to jeopardize the security of our border. Even as our border becomes more dangerous, Canseco voted to eliminate $243 million for border surveillance technology. If Canseco gets his way, these surveillance technologies might never make it to the border, which would put the safety of our communities at risk.

Call Representative Quico Canseco at (XXX) XXX-XXX and tell him to cut taxpayer subsidies for Big Oil companies, not the technology that could make our border safer.

Text of the automated phone call running against Representative Peter Roskam (IL-06), Randy Hultgren (IL-14), and Judy Biggert (IL-13) follows:

Everyone knows we need to cut spending and reduce the deficit in Washington. And we can do that by reforming government, cutting wasteful spending, and getting rid of taxpayer subsidies for the Big Oil companies making record profits.

Instead, Representative Peter Roskam chose a partisan plan with drastic cuts for Fermilab. Roskam’s plan would cause massive layoffs here in Illinois and squander America’s chance to lead the world in science and research.

If Peter Roskam has his way, Fermilab would have to lay off 400 people and shut down its critical research that’s leading to new discoveries and cutting-edge technologies.

Call Representative Peter Roskam at (XXX) XXX-XXX and tell him to cut taxpayer subsidies for Big Oil, not job creating researcher here in Illinois.

The text of the automated phone call running against Representative David Schweikert (AZ-05), Joe Walsh (IL-08), and Joe Heck (NV-03) follows:

Everyone knows we need to cut spending and reduce the deficit in Washington. And we can do that by reforming government, cutting wasteful spending, and getting rid of taxpayer subsidies for the Big Oil companies making record profits.

Instead, Representative David Schweikert chose a partisan plan that eliminates funding to help people stay in their homes and protect home values. While many Arizona families are struggling to pay their mortgage, David Schweikert chose big oil over Arizona home owners.

Call Representative David Schweikert at (XXX) XXX-XXX and tell him to cut taxpayer subsidies to Big Oil companies, not help for homeowners in foreclosure
