Every Ohioan Deserves Access to Life-Saving Health Care & Cancer Prevention
Congressman Jim Renacci today released a new ad that shows the importance of quality health care, but Congressman Renacci doesn’t support that same access to affordable, quality health care and for his constituents as he got. Unfortunately, Congressman Renacci’s record in Washington could have devastating implications for thousands of Ohio women. Congressman Renacci voted to cut breast cancer and cervical cancer screenings and defund centers that help thousands of Ohio women afford health care.
“In Washington Congressman Renacci voted to make it harder for Ohio women to have the same advantage he did in his health care,” said Haley Morris of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. “Multi-millionaires like Congressman Renacci have access to the best health care in the world, but every Ohioan deserves access to quality, affordable health care that can save lives.”
Background
Renacci Voted to Disqualify Planned Parenthood from Receiving Federal Funds. On February 18, 2011, House Republicans voted for an amendment “to disqualify Planned Parenthood and its affiliates from receiving funds appropriated by the bill. The proposal would deny basic, preventive health-care services, including birth control and cancer screenings, to millions of Americans.” [HR 1, Vote #93, 2/18/11; NARAL’s Congressional Record on Choice, 2011]
Renacci Voted Again to Disqualify Planned Parenthood from Receiving Federal Funds. On April 14, 2011, House Republicans voted “to disqualify Planned Parenthood and its affiliates from receiving funds appropriated by the bill. The proposal would deny family-planning and basic health-care services to millions of Americans.” [H Con Res 36, Vote #271, 4/14/11; NARAL’s Congressional Record on Choice, 2011]
