New Polls show Democrats Leading, Republican Brand = Dog Food

Democrats’ momentum continues in the battle for the House. A new NBC/Wall Street Journal poll shows Democrats are leading the generic ballot for Congress by 4 points (47%-43%). This follows a nearly identical lead at the end of August (47%-42%) after being tied in the July poll.

The Republican brand is hurting Republicans running for Congress. A Washington Post/ABC poll shows that 53 percent of voters have an unfavorable view of the Republican party and the Washington Post   wrote today, “The Republican Party’s brand continues to be as former Rep. Tom Davis said in the run-up to the 2008 election ‘dog food.’…The GOP brand is actually worse than it was four years ago.”

Other recent polls show that voters prefer Democrats and Republicans are suffering from a double down-ticket drag because of Mitt Romney’s out-of-touch beliefs and Congressman Paul Ryan’s Medicare-ending budget that is the ticket mate for every Republican running for Congress.
