NY-20: Tedisco’s Record Raising Taxes Further Highlight Career Politician’s Double-Speak, Hypocrisy
DCCC Press:Though career Albany politician Jim Tedisco talks tough about fiscal responsibility and lowering taxes, his record tells an entirely different story. While in Albany, Tedisco has actually voted to raise taxes 221 times. It seems Tedisco never saw a tax increase he didn't like - Tedisco supported tax increases on sales, property, and wireless communications across the state.
"Upstate New Yorkers can't afford career Albany politician Jim Tedisco's record of raising taxes 221 times," said Jennifer Crider, Communications Director for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. "Jim Tedisco record of raising taxes on New Yorkers while saying the opposite is just more of the same double speak and hypocrisy from a career politician.
"Democratic businessman Scott Murphy supports President Barack Obama's economic policies which focus on tax cuts for middle class Americans. Times are tough Upstate, New Yorkers can't afford to have career politician Jim Tedisco bring his tax hiking Albany ways to Washington."
Albany politician Jim Tedisco actually boasts an extensive resume littered with hypocrisy and double-speak; in addition to sending mail outside his district, a practice he previously decried publicly, the career politician racked up $21,000 in charges for gasoline on his state cars and left taxpayers to foot the bill.

Tedisco Opposed Cutting Property Taxes For Household Earning Under $250,000.
In 2008, Tedisco voted against a bill that provided a credit against property taxes for households with incomes up to $250,000, and increased income tax rates for those with incomes over $1 million. It would provide a reduction in all real property taxes (County, School, City, Town, Village, Special District) paid based on taxpayer income. The bill provided for a 25 percent credit for gross household incomes of less than $90,000; a 20 percent credit for gross household incomes between $90,000 and $125,000; and a15 percent credit for gross household incomes between $125,000 and $250,000. The bill passed 118 to 24. [A11838, 8/19/08]
