One Year to Election Day: DCCC Launches “Drive for 25” Radio Ad To Hold Republicans Accountable

Listen to one of our latest radio ads:

One year from the 2012 election and with the House in play, the DCCC today launched a new, aggressive paid and grassroots “Drive for 25” radio campaign to hold 25 targeted Republicans accountable for protecting special interests instead of the middle class and for the ethics issues that plague an increasing number of House Republicans. The radio ads begin airing on Monday. As part of the DCCC’s “Drive for 25” campaign to win the House, the DCCC’s campaign will also include phone banks, web advertising, and live and automated calls.

Three recent polls show voters prefer to elect Democrats to Congress in 2012 over Republicans in a generic ballot. Democrats have more than 60 top notch candidates running in priority districts and more candidates will be announcing in the weeks ahead.

“With one year to go until the election, the House Republicans’ Majority is in peril as it gets freezing cold back at home and Republicans face a chilly response to defending the indefensible,” said DCCC Chairman Steve Israel. “House Republicans will be forced to defend protecting Big Oil and the ultra wealthy instead of protecting Medicare and creating jobs and defend their big ethics scandals too.”

The script of the radio ad to be run in Representative Rick Crawford’s (AR-01) district follows:

While families are hurting here in Arkansas, Congressman Rick Crawford is focused on helping out his special interest friends. Our seniors are worried about making ends meet.

And Congressman Crawford is making sure that big oil companies keep their giant tax loopholes and the most wealthy keep their tax cuts -- and hasn’t done anything to create more jobs or help the middle class.

And even though so many senior citizens here depend on the Social Security and Medicare that they’ve earned, Republicans even voted to essentially end Medicare, which would raise seniors’ health care costs and put their life savings in jeopardy.

All while protecting big companies and their millionaire friends.

Times are tough. And Rick Crawford just doesn’t get it. He is already part of the problem in Washington.

Congressman Crawford is listening to his special interest friends instead of fighting for us.  That’s just not right.

The script of the radio ad to be run in Representative Vern Buchanan (FL-13) district follows:

Republicans in Washington are doing everything they can to protect tax loopholes for big oil companies and their millionaire friends, while voting to end Medicare and raise seniors’ health care costs.

And what’s Vern Buchanan doing to stop it?  Nothing.

His priority these days seems to be looking out for himself.

Buchanan was named by an independent watchdog group as “one of the most corrupt Members of Congress.”

A federal investigation found that Buchanan’s former car dealership violated the law in an “extensive and ongoing scheme” and fined them $68,000.

Now, Buchanan is under criminal investigation by the Department of Justice.  He’s also being investigated by the Office of Congressional Ethics.

How can we expect Congressman Vern Buchanan to fight for us when he’s so busy looking out for himself?

I’m fed up.  Call Vern Buchanan and tell him to fight for us, instead of looking out for himself.

An example of the radio ad in Representative Jeff Denham’s (CA-10) and other districts follows:
Congressman Jeff Denham is part of the problem in Washington.  Protecting tax breaks for billionaires instead of Medicare for seniors and jobs for us. Tell Congressman Denham to fight for California.

The script of the radio ad to be run in Representative David Rivera (FL-25) district follows:
Congressman David Rivera’s under criminal investigation for his personal and campaign spending.  He spends more time defending himself, than fighting for us. Tell Rivera to work for us.

The script of the radio ad to be run in Representative David McKinley (WV-01) district follows:
Congressman David McKinley is part of the problem.  He uses his office to help himself and his family.  Tell McKinley that he should be looking out for us, not himself.

The script of the radio ad to be run in Representative Reid Ribble’s (WI-08) district follows:
Congressman Reid Ribble’s company was fined three times for being unsafe.  Then he fought against those worker protections, a consumer group called it a conflict of interest. Tell him to work for us.
