Pelosi Statement on the Election of Ron Barber
Washington, D.C. - Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement tonight congratulating Congressman-elect Ron Barber on his victory in the Special Election to fill the seat of Congresswoman Gabby Giffords in Arizona's 8th congressional district:
"Tonight, Ron Barber earned the votes and the trust of the people of Arizona's 8th district. In the days to come, we look forward to welcoming him to Congress as the newest Member of the House of Representatives.
"Congressman-elect Barber is an independent voice and a dedicated public servant. He has run, and won, this campaign by holding fast to the values and priorities shared by families across southern Arizona: creating jobs, strengthening the middle class, and protecting the promises of Medicare and Social Security for seniors and future generations. His victory is a testament to his hard work and his dedication to his community.
"Congressman-elect Barber follows in the footsteps of our extraordinary colleague, Congresswoman Gabby Giffords - and he has enormous shoes to fill.
