The Truth about Special Elections on Medicare
In competitive special elections this cycle where the debate has focused on Medicare, and the Ryan plan to end it, Democrats won Republican-leaning seats in NY-26 (Kathy Hochul) and AZ-08 (Ron Barber). On the other hand, in the NV-02 special election, the Republican candidate wasn't committed to the Ryan budget and the race wasn't competitive.

Even Republicans know that having Paul Ryan’s Medicare-ending budget as the ticket-mate is a disaster for them.
