Third Poll Confirms Gary McDowell’s Lead Over Congressman Dan Benishek
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee released a new Benenson Strategy Group poll showing Gary McDowell winning 43 percent over Congressman Dan Benishek’s 40 percent and leading among independents 39 percent to 34 percent. In contrast, the Congressman Dan Benishek’s party-line votes in Washington to end Medicare just to pay for tax breaks to millionaires are taking a toll. More than 61 percent of surveyed voters rate Congressman Benishek’s job approval as just fair or poor. This is the third poll in the last week showing McDowell ahead.
“Within the past week, three polls now confirm that Michigan voters are rejecting Congressman Dan Benishek’s agenda in Washington that ends guaranteed Medicare benefits and forces seniors to negotiate with insurance companies and pay thousands more for the health care,” said Haley Morris of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. “Michigan seniors and middle class families give Congressman Dan Benishek a failing grade for his votes in Washington to end the Medicare, but Gary McDowell continues to gain support in his campaign to protect Medicare and reduce the deficit the right way.”
