A new report in the Tallahassee Democrat reveals Congressman Steve Southerland’s latest derogatory and insulting comments toward North Florida women: Congressman Southerland is now claiming that Gwen Graham, a working mother and attorney, “lacks the experience to accomplish anything for the district.”
“Congressman Southerland’s insulting attitude toward women has been on full display all cycle – but now he’s trying to score political points by mocking Gwen Graham’s experience as a working mother,” said Emily Bittner of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. “Meanwhile, Congressman Southerland’s own ‘accomplishments’ include shutting down the government and lying about his opposition to the Violence Against Women Act. Congressman Southerland just keeps proving that he represents everything North Florida women and families hate about the dysfunctional politics of Washington.”
Previously, Congressman Southerland has faced a backlash for holding a men-only fundraiser, his derogatory “lingerie shower” comments, telling Gwen Graham that “Math is hard,” and for lying about his vote opposing the Violence Against Women Act.
