About Paul Carmouche

Paul Carmouche attended public schools before receiving his undergraduate degree from Nicholls State University and his law degree from Loyola University in New Orleans, where he was elected President of the Law School.

Prior to being elected Caddo Parish District Attorney, Paul practiced law in private practice, served as an Assistant District Attorney and served as Chief Counsel for the Caddo Indigent Defender’s Office.

Paul Carmouche, a Democrat, was elected District Attorney for Caddo Parish, Louisiana, in 1978 and has served as Caddo Parish’s Chief Prosecutor for five terms. During his nearly 30 years of service, Paul has taken thousands of violent criminals off the streets and put them behind bars.

He has cracked down on child predators and domestic violence, and led the fight for a new crime lab for North Louisiana.

Paul has served on numerous Governor's Commissions, including the Louisiana Commission on Law Enforcement and the State Sentencing Guidelines Commission. Paul has lectured on Trial Tactics and Rules of Evidence at legal seminars.

Paul is married to Marti Carmouche and resides in Shreveport. They have two children, a daughter, Marianna, and a son, Matthew.
