Ahead of the Fourth of July holiday, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is launching a digital ad campaign calling on Central Valley Congressmen David Valadao and Jeff Denham to ‘Declare their Independence’ from Republicans’ continued inaction on immigration reform.
It’s been over two years since the U.S. Senate passed an overwhelmingly bipartisan bill to reform our broken immigration system, but House Republicans refuse to consider the legislation and continue to throw around hateful anti-immigrant rhetoric.
Enough is enough. If Congressmen Valadao or Denham were truly leaders on immigration reform, they would be getting House Republicans in line and standing up to colleagues who compare immigrants to terrorists, rapists, and dogs.
“Congressman Valadao and Congressman Denham claim to be leaders on immigration reform, but all we’ve seen is Republican inaction and all we’ve heard is Republican anti-immigrant rhetoric,” said Barb Solish of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. “Central Valley Californians deserve real leadership on immigration reform, but it is clear it won’t come from Republicans like Valadao and Denham.”
