Ahead of the Fourth of July holiday, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is launching a targeted digital ad campaign highlighting One-Term-Wonder Congressman Carlos Curbelo’s independence from transparency.

Most public officials go the extra mile to avoid conflicts of interest and explain their positions on major issues to voters in their district. Not Carlos Curbelo, he isn’t your ordinary Congressman. He declared his independence from such nuisances a long time ago.

After omitting special interest donations from campaign finance reports and approving contracts for campaign donors while a member of the school board,  he still refuses to name the clients of his lobbying firm. Instead he chose to exploit a disclosure loophole.

“Curbelo continually displays a lack of transparency that is mind-boggling for a public official,” said Matt Thornton of DCCC. “It seems Curbelo will go to any lengths to hide his work history and positions on issues important to people in South Florida. This is not the type of independence South Florida was looking for in a representative.”
