DCCC RELEASES AUDIO: Brian Fitzpatrick’s Reckless Rhetoric on Guns Stands in Contrast to His Brother

While Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick has flirted with sensible gun safety measures, his brother Brian has offered policies and talking points lifted straight from the gun lobby. In exclusive audio obtained by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, Brian told a voter just days after the Orlando shooting, “I don’t think we should be focusing on guns.” Mimicking talking points espoused by the gun lobby, Brian dismissed sensible gun safety measures by concluding that, “criminals are not going to obey gun laws. That’s how I feel about it.”

Though Brian Fitzpatricks campaign strategy has been to pray that voters dont notice the difference between him and his brother, their differences on the issue of sensible gun safety is strikingly clear,” said Jermaine House of the DCCC. “Brian Fitzpatrick was recruited by GOP Party bosses to run for his brother’s seat, and it’s now obvious he is taking his lead from the reckless wing of his party, siding with the gun lobby over Pennsylvania‘s families.

Brian Fitzpatrick’s just released tone deaf rhetoric on gun safety follows comments made to local Republicans this past March at a Republican primary forum when Brian stated “the Second Amendment is on the ballot this year.”

He also parroted the gun lobby’s talking points when he suggested that a Supreme Court that might uphold practical gun safety measures somehow infringes on the Second Amendment. It’s quite clear that Brian Fitzpatrick is more interested in maintaining his dangerously partisan relationship with the gun lobby and Republican Party bosses than keeping Pennsylvanians safe from preventable gun violence.
