Anti-Equality New Jersey Congressman Scott Garrett to Pull a Tea Party Pivot at CPAC

With corporate donors bailing New Jersey Congressman Scot Garrett’s campaign due to his anti-equality views and pro-discrimination record, Garrett is now pivoting full-scale to the Tea Party to pad his shrinking coffers and save his flailing campaign.

Garrett will be joining the stage with Ted Cruz and other Tea Party celebrities at this year’s Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in early March. We expect Garrett to reiterate his anti-equality views and double-down on his pro-discrimination record – he might even continue his habit of ducking press.

Who: Scott Garrett

What: Garrett’s Tea Party pivot

When: March 2-5, 2016

Where: CPAC 2016, Gaylord Hotel National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor

Why: Since Garrett first generated controversy for believing that sexual orientation should disqualify a person from running for elected office, long-time supportive corporate donors have been dropping Garrett’s campaign in droves.

With his campaign coffers slowly shrinking, Garrett is now leaning on the Tea Party to keep his campaign afloat ahead of this November.

“With corporate donors bailing due to his embarrassing anti-equality views and pro-discrimination record, New Jersey Congressman Garrett is now pivoting to the Tea Party to pad his shrinking coffers and save his flailing campaign,” said Bryan Lesswing at the DCCC.
