After First Presidential Debate, DCCC Launches Ads Linking Vulnerable Republican Carlos Curbelo’s Immigration and Environmental Hypocrisy to Donald Trump

After having witnessed Donald Trump’s temperament, racism and sexism during the first presidential debate last night, voters now more than ever are viewing Florida’s 26th Congressional race through a Trump lens. Starting today, a new wave of DCCC ads will highlight vulnerable Carlos Curbelo’s hypocritical records on immigration and the environment.

Carlos Curbelo’s attempts to portray himself as a moderate in this newly re-drawn and solidly Democratic district are no surprise, but unlike President George H. W. Bush, Curbelo has decided to put the Republican Party’s nominee before South Florida families and will not be voting for Hillary Clinton.

Despite trying his hardest to portray himself as a moderate on the environment, South Florida voters will be reminded of Carlos Curbelo’s spotty record and his hypocrisy on offshore drilling.

On immigration, South Florida voters will be made aware of Carlos Curbelo’s anti-immigrant record, despite his public comments on the issue. Through a sham immigration PAC, Curbelo has been donating to Trump-like Republicans that oppose President Obama’s immigration actions and support Trump’s border wall.

“Carlos Curbelo cannot have it both ways when it comes to his anti-immigrant and detrimental environmental record. And when South Florida voters learn that Carlos Curbelo and Trump have more in common than they thought, they too will reject the Trump-Curbelo ticket,” said Javier Gamboa of the DCCC.
