House Republicans Pushing us Closer to DHS Shutdown

With nine days until the Department of Homeland Security shuts down, DHS is scrambling to find a short-term solution to obtain enough funding so it doesn’t have to close its doors.  DHS is still looking to Congress for a long-term funding solution, but yet again House Republicans have left homeland security employees fearing they will lose their paychecks.  DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson even said himself that a short-term solution “won’t solve his problems.”

This is just another example of how the Republican Congress is incapable of doing its job.

“House Republicans are once again focusing on their party agenda rather than their governmental responsibilities by continuing to play games with our national security,” said Matt Thornton of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.
