ICYMI: Casperson In D.C. During DPS Vote

The lone Senator not present during today’s Detroit Public Schools (DPS) reform vote was in Washington D.C. for the National Republic Congressional Committee (NRCC) annual dinner.

Sen. Tom CASPERSON (R-Escanaba), who is running in the 1st Congressional District, attended the dinner with departing U.S. Rep. Dan BENISHEK (R-Crystal Falls), whose seat he is seeking.

“He doesn’t make it a habit to miss votes, but he had a unique opportunity,” said Casperson staffer Marty FITTANTE.

Sacha HAWORTH of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) said that “Clearly, Lansing politician Tom Casperson isn’t all that concerned about the future of education in Michigan, considering he’s currently in D.C. raising money with the NRCC for the next job on the career ladder.

“Maybe Casperson wasn’t worried about missing the vote considering his financial backers, the DeVos family, were lobbying against it?”
