ICYMI: Tim Walberg Says “Nothing” Stands in Way of Getting Snyder to Testify (Except Himself)

In a radio interview the morning Congressman Walberg’s House Committee on Oversight held hearings on the Flint water crisis, Walberg told a radio host that nothing stands in the way of getting Governor Snyder to testify before Congress.

Asked what was preventing Walberg from getting Snyder to Washington, Walberg said:

“Well nothing. The Chairman makes that decision.”

And then hinted as to why he might not be trying too hard to convince the Chairman to bring Snyder in:

“Remember, my philosophy is that the federal government takes care of itself first before we look at other areas of the government.”

That’s right, Tim Walberg is actually blaming Jason Chaffetz, Chairman of the Oversight Committee, for Walberg’s own unwillingness to hold Lansing politicians accountable. And then admitting that it goes against his “philosophy.”

“If ‘nothing stands in the way’ of holding Governor Snyder accountable, then why can’t Congressman Tim Walberg stand up to his own Chairman and demand Snyder testify before Congress?” said DCCC spokeswoman Sacha Haworth. “There is something standing in the way of Snyder testifying, and that is Walberg putting his own philosophy of government before the better interests of Michiganders.”
