RE: Closing Argument: Andy Tobin Still Wrong for Arizona

With less than a week until Election Day, it’s clear that momentum is on Representative Ann Kirkpatrick’s side while northern Arizonans are rejecting House Speaker Andy Tobin’s record of focusing on himself and special interests so much that he is failing to look out for hardworking Arizonans.

Here’s why Kirkpatrick is well-positioned going into the homestretch.

Tobin’s Flailing Campaign Getting Bailout from Right-Wing Special Interests

As the respected nonpartisan Cook Political Report puts it, Andy Tobin is hardly Republicans’ “ideal nominee.” Whether it was getting caught failing to pay his taxes on time, getting outraised by nearly $2 million by Representative Kirkpatrick, or scrambling to defend his role in passing the discriminatory SB1062, it’s no wonder right-wing special interest groups had to drag Tobin across the finish line in the primary – and are having to again as we approach Election Day.

Republican Dark Money Groups Distorting Kirkpatrick’s Record, DCCC Is Doubling Down

As Republican third party groups spent millions bailing out Tobin and distorting Representative Ann Kirkpatrick’s record of bipartisan accomplishments, the DCCC has invested more than $2 million to highlight how Andy Tobin slashed Arizona’s education funding, took the state to the bottom in per-pupil spending, and turned his back on Arizona’s most vulnerable children – all while lining his pockets with more money from lobbyists than any other legislator.

Kirkpatrick’s Record is Resonating with Arizonans, Field efforts Leading the Way

The Arizona Republic, the Arizona Daily Star, the Arizona Daily Sun, the Tucson Weekly, and the White Mountain Independent all agreed – Representative Kirkpatrick’s focus on job creation, bipartisan solutions, and record of accomplishments have earned her another term. Her record is resonating with voters, as her campaign’s robust field operation has helped Democrats return more ballots than Republicans in the early vote.  In particular, efforts to turn out tribal members of the Navajo Nation are paying off.

By every metric, Representative Ann Kirkpatrick’s campaign to continue her bipartisan track record of fighting for Arizona’s middle class, supporting small businesses, standing up for veterans, investing in education, and protecting Medicare and Social Security is poised to earn her another term. The choice in this election could not be more clear.
