RE: Pre-election Day Outlook: California’s 7th Congressional District

Days from now, Sacramento County voters will head to the ballot box and re-elect a tireless advocate for polices that help rebuild the middle class, strengthen seniors’ earned benefits, hold Wall Street accountable, and deliver bipartisan results for Sacramento County families: Representative Ami Bera. Bera’s momentum is growing every hour thanks to his state-of-the-art get out the vote machine and record of results.

Bera’s Ground Game Leading the Way

Earlier this week, President Clinton described Rep. Bera as the embodiment of the “American Dream” and urged more than 4,500 voters at an energized rally to cast their ballots and help get out the vote. Over the course of his campaign, Rep. Bera has assembled an unprecedented field operation that has put them in a strong position to turn out voters on Tuesday. So far, Rep. Bera’s volunteers and grassroots supporters have made 470,000 phone calls and knocked more than 200,000 doors throughout the district.

Bera Standing Up for Sacramento County

Rep. Ami Bera has honored the promises he made to Sacramento County families when he first ran for Congress: helping to pass ‘No Budget, No Pay,’ working across the aisle to produce bipartisan solutions, refusing to take a pay raise or a pension, and protecting Social Security from privatization. The Sacramento Bee captured Bera’s record in their endorsement: “Bera has shown a willingness to work with Republicans, takes thoughtful positions, works hard and has earned a second term.”

Ose Beholden to Wall Street

In contrast, former Congressman Doug Ose has failed to defend his record of standing with Wall Street by voting to privatize Social Security and putting special interests and the wealthy ahead of Sacramento County families. If elected, Ose would be nothing more than a rubberstamp for House Republicans’ agenda that stacks the deck for special interests at the expense of the middle class.

Conclusion

With Election Day fast approaching, Rep. Bera is in a strong position to win by every metric within his control. The campaign has a massive volunteer operation on the ground and a message that’s resonating with voters throughout the district in the face of millions of right-wing, special interest dollars that have flooded the airwaves with false attacks. The contrast in this election could not be more clear between Rep. Bera’s record of fighting for Sacramento County’s middle class and former Congressman Doug Ose who puts his get rich, Wall Street agenda above all else.
