100 Days: Chairman Steve Israel Announces Grassroots Day of Action
Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) Chairman Steve Israel announced a grassroots “Middle Class First” Day of Action this Saturday in 15 congressional districts to expose Republican plans to put millionaires over the middle class in a vote next week on taxes. The “Middle Class First” grassroots action day includes volunteers going door-to-door and making phone calls to alert voters about House Republicans’ newest plan to put tax breaks for millionaires ahead of the middle class and to organize for the last 100 days of the campaign. According to the Tax Policy Center, House Republicans would give people making more than $1 million a year another $130,000 tax break.
Campaigns in targeted districts are stepping up their efforts and mobilizing voters in advance of next week’s vote in the House. Events will take place in Arizona, California, Florida, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia.
“With 100 days until Election Day, Democrats are mobilizing voters nationwide to unmask House Republicans’ latest plan to protect millionaires over the middle class,” DCCC Chairman Steve Israel said. “Volunteers are phone banking and going door-to-door to ensure that voters across the country know that Republicans are choosing top-down economics that give tax breaks to millionaires instead of strengthening the middle class. This election is about whose priorities are better for the middle class and we’ll take that message neighbor-to-neighbor and house-to-house.”
