After Lining Her Pockets with Taxpayer Dollars, Millionaire Michele Rollins Announces Candidacy for Congress
Just weeks after coming under fire for lining her pockets with taxpayer funded TARP money, this morning Delaware Republican Michele Rollins (DE-AL) officially announced her candidacy for Congress. She did so despite the fact that she is the poster child for all the anger and animosity that has been rightfully directed at multi-millionaire executives in recent years.
“Republican multi-millionaire Michele Rollins represents all that is wrong with corporate greed and arrogance in America,” said Shripal Shah, Regional Press Secretary for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. “Michele Rollins has already proved to be grossly out of touch by arrogantly having her taxpayer funded pay quadrupled while families in Delaware have continued to struggle.”
“Only Republicans would think that the poster child for all the anger and animosity that was rightfully directed at multi-millionaire executives represents the kind of leadership Delaware needs in Congress. They’re wrong, and shouldn’t be surprised when Michele Rollins’ candidacy is rejected in November.”

Rollins saw her compensation quadruple right after her firm, Wilmington Trust, received a $330 million taxpayer-funded bailout in 2008. While the company has been quick to pay out bonuses and incentives to its top executives to the tune of $31.5 million in 2009, Wilmington Trust has yet to pay taxpayers back. [News Journal, 3/25/10]
