As Candidates Prepare to Debate, Hoffman and Scozzafava Continue to Support Bush Economic Agenda
Though he is ducking yet another forum, Conservativecandidate Doug Hoffman can't hide from the fact that his candidacy representsnothing more than a return to the Bush economic policies - the same policiesthat created record deficits, skyrocketing unemployment, and the worstrecession the country has seen since the Great Depression. In fact, bothRepublicans in the race have embraced the Bush economic agenda; AssemblywomanScozzafava has also gone out of her way to tout her commitment to these sameeconomic policies in an attempt to shore up right wing support for hercampaign. Neither Republican has a real plan to get our economy back on track.
"The fact that both Doug Hoffman and Dede Scozzafava arefirmly committed to going back to the George Bush economic agenda proves thatthey're both grossly out of touch when it comes to the needs of this district,"said Shripal Shah, Northeast Regional Press Secretary for the DemocraticCongressional Campaign Committee. "Upstate New York can't afford more tax cuts for thewealthy or reckless spending that helped create the recession we're currentlyfacing. Upstate New Yorkers need a plan that moves us forward, not backward, sothat we can get our economy moving again."
"Both Republicans are choosing to stand up for partisanagendas that pander to their special interest backers that will only prolongthe tough times for Upstate families that are already struggling. It's clearthat neither candidate will do a thing to get our economy back on track."
