BREAKING: AP Catches “Casino” Marino (PA-10) Lying About His Controversial Past

Shripal Shah, spokesman for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, issued the following statement after the Associated Press reported that Republican Tom “Casino” Marino (PA-10) has been lying to Pennsylvanians for the past 5 months:

“The fact that Tom ‘Casino’ Marino has spent the past five months lying about his past only proves how unfit he is to serve Pennsylvanians.  These lies have come to define ‘Casino’ Marino’s career and it’s clear that he simply can’t be trusted in any capacity, let alone in Congress.”

BACKGROUND:

The AP caught Tom Marino lying about his connections to a controversial land developer.  According to the Associated Press, “Republican Tom Marino, who is running in Pennsylvania's 10th Congressional District, told a radio interviewer in April that his Justice Department superiors authorized him to act as a reference on Louis DeNaples' 2006 gaming application - at a time when DeNaples was under investigation by Marino's office. A Justice Department source, who spoke on condition of anonymity to freely discuss the case, told the Associated Press there is no record of Marino having received the permission.” [AP, 9/17/10]
