Chairman Israel Statement on Jeffries’ Nomination in New York’s 8th Congressional District
DCCC Chairman Steve Israel released the following statement on Hakeem Jeffries’ nomination as the Democratic candidate in New York’s 8th district, an open seat.
“On behalf of the DCCC, I congratulate Hakeem Jeffries on his nomination. As an Assemblyman, Hakeem has been a champion for New York’s working families, students, and families. In Congress, Hakeem will be an effective leader for Brooklyn who solves problems and is focused on creating jobs and growing the economy. He will fight to protect Medicare and Social Security, and stand up to the Republicans’ agenda that would give more tax breaks to millionaires, Big Oil, and companies shipping jobs overseas at the expense of the middle class and working Americans.”
