Curtain Call on Congressman Joe Walsh’s Possible Bid in Illinois’ New 8th District

Congressman Joe Walsh (IL-08) is in a real bind about where he should run to stay in Washington. After waffling over two districts, Walsh’s latest stunt could be entering a primary in Illinois’ new 8th district according to Roll Call. If only Congressman Walsh devoted this level of consideration to his actual constituents.

“Congressman Joe Walsh has far graver problems than Illinois redistricting lines: he’s a deadbeat on jobs,” said Haley Morris of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. “Congressman Joe Walsh has spent his time in Congress clamoring for media attention and yelling at constituents instead of advocating for ways to get Illinois families back to work. No matter where Congressman Joe Walsh chooses to run, he will have to defend pushing an extreme, out of touch Republican Congressional agenda that ends Medicare and gives out more tax breaks to millionaires and Big Oil.”

Background

Walsh May Switch Back to Eighth District Race. Yesterday, Roll Call reported that Congressman Walsh may be switching from his announced race in the 14th congressional district back to the 8th district and would face a primary with declared candidate Darlene Ruscitti. [Roll Call, 11/28/11]
