DCCC Announces It Has $44.3 COH
Chairman Chris Van Hollen today
announced the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee raised $20 million for
the first quarter of 2008, has $44.3
million cash on hand and has no debt.
“The American people are
energized and inspired by the strong candidates for change we’ve recruited
across the country,” Chairman Van Hollen said. “Our strong grassroots support
stems from Democrats’ continuing fight to take
Building on 2007’s record
grassroots support, enthusiasm continued to grow during the first quarter of
2008. The DCCC had the highest grassroots fundraising quarter of the 2008 cycle
tripling our grassroots fundraising from the same time last year. The DCCC has
also more than doubled the number of grassroots activists and supporters,
growing our list to well more than 2 million supporters.
The DCCC’s fundraising reflects
a five year trend of growing our base and enthusiasm for Speaker Pelosi’s
leadership, House Democrats’ New Direction agenda, and the DCCC’s strategic
approach to growing our majority. As a result of this strong performance, the
DCCC has remained on offense this cycle – putting more than 50 Republican seats
from all over the country in play.
Van Hollen concluded, “The DCCC
will remain on offense and work to ensure that we have the resources we need to
take advantage of the opportunities we have.”
