DCCC Chairman Steve Israel Announces 14 New Red to Blue Races

DCCC Chairman Steve Israel today announced 14 more races have qualified for the highly competitive Red to Blue program as the latest wave in the DCCC’s ‘Drive for 25’ campaign to win the House. These candidates have earned a spot on Red to Blue by surpassing aggressive fundraising, organization and infrastructure goals. These candidates also demonstrate they are problem solvers who will represent the American people’s priorities and protect the middle class.

Additionally, Chairman Israel announced four (4) new Majority Maker candidates and 13 Emerging Races.  The Red to Blue program is co-chaired by Congressman Jared Polis (CO) and Congresswoman Donna Edwards (MD), and Congresswoman Allyson Schwartz serves as the National Chair for Recruitment and Candidate Services.

“These candidates have earned a spot in this competitive program by being on offense and working tirelessly to hold Republicans accountable for repeatedly choosing Millionaires over Medicare,” said DCCC Chairman Steve Israel. “As long as Republicans have the wrong priorities for the middle class, they’re going to be unable to defend themselves against these top tier Democratic candidates who have put control of the House in play. Allyson Schwartz, along with Jared Polis and Donna Edwards, have already shown their tremendous leadership of our Red to Blue program and will continue to help our candidates build winning campaigns through Election Day.”

70 percent of the current Red to Blue candidates outraised their Republican opponent in the first quarter of 2012 (16 of 23). The House Race Hotline wrote these Red to Blue candidates are the “strongest recruiting class since '06, no small feat.”
