DCCC Chairman Steve Israel’s Statement on Congresswoman Lynn Woolsey’s Retirement

DCCC Chairman Steve Israel released the following statement on Congresswoman Lynn Woolsey’s (CA-06) announcement that she will not to run for re-election:

“For nearly two decades, Congresswoman Lynn Woolsey has been an outstanding progressive leader for California’s 6^th district and an outspoken advocate for expanding health care and investing in our children’s education. She has earned admiration and respect as a champion for hardworking Americans and for helping lead the fight to ensure fair wages, protect worker’s rights to organize, and end workplace discrimination.

“On behalf of the DCCC, I thank Lynn Woolsey for her distinguished service in the House. This is a strong Democratic district and both President Obama and Senator Kerry carried this district by significant margins. We look forward to electing a Democrat next November who will represent the middle class families of this district.”
