DCCC Chairman Steve Israel’s Statement on Labor Day

Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Chairman Steve Israel issued the following statement celebrating Labor Day:

“Today we honor our nation’s workers and their families who are the foundation of our middle class and the key to rebuilding our economy. We celebrate the contributions of the labor movement and thank them for their tireless work that benefits us all.

Unfortunately, House Republicans and Republican legislators across the country have launched an outrageous assault against American workers. While House Democrats are fighting to invest in our nation’s workforce to protect and create jobs, we’ve seen Republicans at every level strike against the proud tradition of American workers and workers’ rights.

For 243 days, House Republicans have done nothing to help the middle class or to create one job. Now, on this Labor Day, we recommit ourselves to fighting to create good paying jobs and protect those workers’ rights.”
