Hollen released the following statement on the 40th Anniversary of
the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.:
“Today, as our nation observes the 40th anniversary of
the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., we honor his lifelong
commitment to civil rights, equal justice, and economic empowerment.
“Dr. King’s dream was that every American would be
judged on the content of their character and opportunity would exist for
everyone regardless of race, ethnicity, or gender. Thanks to Dr. King’s
leadership,
“The best way we can honor his memory is by redoubling
our efforts to give every American a shot to live the American
dream.”
