Dede Scozzafava in Her Own Words: “What’s the Hurry to Change Health Care?”

 

The DCCC todayunveiled a new web video showing Albany politician Dede Scozzafava proving howout of touch she is by asking ‘what's the hurry to change health care' even asthe number of uninsured New Yorkers soars. The Albany politician's outrageous statementcomes as no surprise considering her record of voting against affordable healthcare for hundreds of thousands of other New Yorkers.

 

"As an Albany politician who gets her own health care paidfor by the taxpayers, it's no surprise that Scozzafava is in no hurry to changethe status quo so hardworking families can get affordable care," said Shripal Shah, Northeast Regional Press Secretary forthe Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. "Whether she's voting to raiseor extend taxes on New Yorkers while refusing to pay outstanding tax liens onher family business or now saying there's ‘no hurry' to reform health care,it's clear that Scozzafava is nothing more than an out of touch Albanypolitician who only looks out for herself."

AlbanyPolitician Dede Scozzafava Votes Against Health Care Reform:

 

In 1999, Scozzafava voted against the Health Care Reform Act- the state's health-care financing law.

 

Officials indicated that up to 1 million New Yorkers - orabout one-third of the uninsured population - would be eligible for coverageunder HCRA 2000, and that 500,000 would actually get insurance in the firstthree years.  The majority being provided by Health New York which was subsidized healthinsurance offered through small business.

The Scozzafava familybusiness has close to $200,000 in outstanding state and federal tax liens.  [WatertownDaily Times, 7/22/09]

 

Scozzafava voted to raiseor extend taxes over 190 times.
